Created by Multi Award winning solo Burlesque artists Jersey Rhein & Verona Vega, Burlesk Dunedin is home to over 70 students and the multi award winning Burlesque troupe the Burlesk Dunedin Debutants.
Jersey & Verona started producing the "It's Our Jam" series of shows together in 2018 with the aim to create a platform of Burlesque in Dunedin to showcase this amazing artform on stage. They have now produced over 25 Variety & Burlesque shows locally, throughout central Otago and Southland plus two tours.
In 2020 they opened their own studio in central Dunedin and trained with Corps De Burlesque to become registered Burlesque teachers and teach from the only Burlesque Syllabus in the world created in Palmerston North by Corps De Burlesque Studio, along with Creative NZ and DANZ.
Burlesk Dunedin are the only affiliate studio of Corps De Burlesque south of Christchurch and use the syllabus with a shared view to set a standard of burlesque education in New Zealand. It encourages better collaboration between educators, improves teaching methods and provides a solid and realistic framework for learning about this wonderful art form.
The syllabus consists of a 6 level curriculum, each level focusing on history and fundamental aspects of burlesque. Each level consists of weekly classes over a six week period.
Burlesk Dunedin also offers Burlesque Happy Hour, which is a casual burlesque styled dance fitness class along with a number of specialty classes including Boylesque.
Burlesk Dunedin is an all inclusive studio, our doors are open to everyone!
Burlesk Dunedin also offers Burlesque Hen's Parties and one one one mentouring opportunities. We are also available for hire for Corporate events, includng a team of showgirls available for hire for promotional work. Simply contact us for a quote for your next function.
